Life in Lone Star Rebus - #357 “Treasure Island”

Sitting here at the Lone Star Oyster Bar on 34th and Flint listening to JT Paz, Shad Daugherty, Andrew Ybannez, and Kris Killingsworth playing the Sunday Night Open Jam is a lot like landing on an uncivilized, some times dangerous island with a bad ass house band.

I can’t bring friends here, or at least, I have to be picky about who gets to come. Not a lot of people understand how cathartic going here can be—both to play and to be entertained and fed.

The house band is the best you will find: Shad Daugherty from Brandon Adams and the Sad Bastards, Kris Killingsworth from the Thriftstore Cowboys are among the longstanding members who have incredible bands on the side. Bring your guitar (but bring your band or be able to play something the band knows) and live out the rock and roll dream for an evening.

Some of the musicians who come are regulars; all are fantastic and worth taking a Sunday evening to come out, drink beer, and enjoy stellar local, live musicians from Lubbock, TX.
